A painting that found its way onto fabric

Soleil & Silk was born from a belief Nandini Srivastava has held for years: art should not belong only on walls or in galleries. It can be part of how you dress, how you express yourself, and the stories you choose to carry with you.

A textile designer and artist, Nandini Srivastava has always painted on fabric. For her, a saree, a kurta or a scarf was never simply something to decorate. It was a canvas.

That philosophy became Soleil & Silk.

Every piece begins as art. Sometimes it comes from Nandini Srivastava's own imagination and her enduring fascination with nature. Sometimes it begins with a story someone brings to us: a memory, a feeling, an inspiration, a place, or something deeply personal that they would like translated onto fabric.

So when you wear Soleil & Silk, you are not simply wearing another hand-painted garment.

You are wearing a painting that found its way onto fabric.

Wearable Art. Made Slowly. Worn Timelessly.

Inside the Soleil & Silk atelier

The artist behind Soleil & Silk

Nandini Srivastava is a textile designer, artist and the creative heart of Soleil & Silk.

Her relationship with fabric goes back long before the brand. She has spent years exploring how colours, brushwork and illustrations behave on textiles, treating the fabric itself as part of the composition.

Nature has always found a place in her work. Flowers, birds, animals and foliage appear often, interpreted through her own eye rather than reproduced exactly as she sees them.

Every Soleil & Silk painting is painted by Nandini Srivastava herself. There is no team of artists replicating her brushwork. The small variations, the texture of the paint and the individuality of each stroke are part of the piece.

Our Signature works go a step further. These are original compositions that are painted once and never recreated. The person who takes one home becomes the sole owner of that particular work.

For Nandini Srivastava, the garment is not something on which art is added. The garment is the artwork.

From an idea to wearable art

01. The idea
A piece may begin in Nandini Srivastava's sketchbook or with a conversation. For bespoke work, we listen first. The inspiration could be an occasion, a memory, a favourite flower, an animal, a place, a colour palette or something meaningful only to you.

02. The canvas
Fabric is chosen as carefully as the artwork. Its colour, texture, transparency, fall and movement all influence how a painting will eventually look when worn. The composition and placement are planned around the fabric rather than simply transferred onto it.

03. The painting
Then comes the part that cannot be rushed. Nandini Srivastava paints the piece by hand, building the composition through individual brushstrokes, layers, details and colour.

No two paintings turn out exactly alike. They aren't meant to.

04. The making
Once the painting is complete, the piece is finished and tailored where required. Details are kept considered so that the fabric, silhouette and artwork feel like parts of the same composition.

05. The story continues
The work may begin with Nandini Srivastava, but eventually it becomes part of someone else's life. A wedding. A celebration. An heirloom. Or simply a piece that feels unmistakably like you.

That is when the painting becomes more than something we created.

It becomes yours.
